We have recommended that you get out of your comfort zone and post on our blog - and we're following our own advice. Instead of remaining on the backroads, we're inching onto the super blogway. We are registering on some blog directories and making contact with other like-minded blogs, which will help us understand just how boomer women are using their voices in this new medium.

My recent trip to the Grand Canyon was awe inspiring - the shades of color like a painter's palette, the white river rapids deep down in the gorge, the bright green shrubs that thrive despite the arid earth.

This magical land was gradually created over centuries, through the relationship of heat building mountains and rivers carving ravines. It was truly a wonder – and, for the moment, put life in perspective. Change can take a very long time. But if you keep at it and try different ways to make it happen, the results can amaze.

Perhaps travel is not a priority for you - neither feasible nor interesting. But consider the possibility of doing more of whatever it is that you find inspiring and motivating. You owe it to yourself.

Spring is in the air and brings with it many opportunities for celebration. Between Mother's day, graduations, weddings and Father's day there are likely some family gatherings planned.

Are you feeling eager for connection? Concerned about unfinished business and potential confrontation? Sad that family is physically or emotionally distant and you'll be on your own?

Families today come in many shapes and sizes. What's the composition of yours? What events are you anticipating? And how are you preparing to deal with the possible ups and downs? As always, we want to hear from you.

As mothers we know that sending flowers, candy and greeting cards are de rigueur for Mother's Day. We all may want different things for "our" day - the comments we received on the blog highlighted some - but spending time together is usually a winner. Being with family gives everyone a chance to appreciate the love that is there. The forms that love takes may vary from one family to another - and sometimes it is even hard to recognize. Share with us how your family members express their love. And Happy Mother's Day.

With Mother's Day a week away, have your children asked you how you would like to celebrate? For some of us, this is a hard question to answer. We've been so used to doing for, and taking care of, our families that somehow we may have forgotten how to focus on our own desires. Maybe we need this day to give us the impetus - and permission - to meet our needs for a change.

So what do you want to do to enjoy your special day? Think about it and share your ideas with your family.
